The European Match Race Tour today announced its 2024 schedule of five events across Europe. New exciting events in the UK, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and a final event in Spain. The sixth edition of the EMRT marks a re-launch and a re-shape of the tour, trying to develop and promote match racing across all Europe.
The 2024 European Match Race Tour will kick off from 3-6 May at the Royal Southern Match Cup, hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble, UK. An exciting new entry for the European Match Race Tour in a country where sailing is a must. The event will be sailed in J 70s.
The second stop of the Tour was planned to be in Bourgas, BUL from 27-30 June. The event has been CANCELED and, with Ultramarine taking the spot, will be hosted in Lake Istar south of Sofia, BUL on 19-22 Sept and will be sailed with SB20s. Races will be held inside the natural reserve allowing spectators to enjoy racing from the club.
The Tour is heading to Lake Ohrid in Macedonia for the first ever match racing event in the country. The event will be held from 28-31 August, sailed in FarEast 23Rs. Lake Ohrid is the oldest lake in Europe, and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.It is a hidden gem in the Balkans that worth a visit during summer.
In the beginning of October, the Tour will move to Bodrum, TUR for the fourth stop. The event will be held from 3-6 October and will be hosted by Bodrum Spor Kulubu and sailed in J 70s.
The Final stop of the 2024 European Match Race Tour will see the teams heading to Alicante, ESP from 24-27 October. The event will be hosted by Real Club de Regatas de Alicante and will mark the final of the Tour where the European champion for 2024 will be crowned.
