I’m a Club. What do I need to host an EMRT event?
Basically, the same things needed for a match race: 4 or 6 boats of the same kind and equalized, a Race Committee boat (a big rib/a small power boat/a sail boat), 2 or 3 ribs for the umpires. If you read our Information for Organizers (link), many of your questions will be answered.
I’m a member of a sailing team. How can my team join one or more EMRT events?
Visit this year's list of events (link) and select your preferred location; local OA and EMRT will do their best to accommodate you. Please consider that the latest request may not find approval. Try again, we want you in!
I’m a sailor. Can I join an event and/or a team?
This is not directly under the control of EMRT. Anyway, we can do our best to share your request with the teams. Send us an email at [email protected], and we will contact the teams with your availability.
How much cost to organize an EMRT event?
There is no unique answer to this question. It may vary a lot depending on the venue, whether to rent the boats or the ribs, and if the club owns the Race Committee boats… We can help you to find the best and cheapest solution while keeping the event within the EMRT standard.
As a Club, what do I have to do to provide medals or trophies?
Nothing at all! EMRT will provide you with all the prizes needed for your event with no additional costs for you.
My Club decided to host an EMRT event. What is next?
Welcome! First, you have to sign the standard contract with EMRT. After this step, EMRT will help you in filling the Grading Form and sending it to World Sailing, in preparing the Notice of Race and Sailing Instruction, contacting the Umpires, contacting the Teams…
Why do I need 6 umpires for my EMRT event? Aren’t there too many?
Unfortunately, this doesn’t depend on EMRT; it’s a World Sailing standard. You can check the requirements for each Graded event by reading the Grading Criteria (link).
My Club will host an EMRT event. Can I use the coach ribs for the Umpires?
Generally, no, normally they are too small and without the console. If your coaches are blessed with 5.8 mt (or longer) ribs with a steering wheel, then YES! We can use them!
